| How we refurbish our laptopsSimply re-installing windows on a used laptop does not constitute ‘refurbishing’. Every laptop re-sold by ourselves will be brought back to a good cosmetic condition, this may involve exchanging badly scratched or worn panels, covers with new ones. - When we receive the laptops they are often in large batches usually directly from sources operating with bankrupt companies or corporations that have upgraded their IT equipment. Some laptops will be in excellent condition, some will be well worn, broken laptops will be used for spares if beyond economic repair.
- Often ex-corporate laptops are password protected. Occasionally we are given the passwords, most of the time we will have to manually remove the password by replicating manufacturer techniques, some of them obtained by our own experience using trial and error.
- Sometimes fluff and dust has built up between the heat sink and in the fan from previous use.
- A clean heat sink allows more air flow and aids cooling. This is one of the most important steps in the reconditioning process. A blocked fan will cause an overheating CPU resulting in poor performance
